Nuova fatica cinematografica per il granitico Dwayne Johnson - alias The Rock - interprete dell'action movie Skyscraper diretto da Rawson Marshall Thurber, in cui vestirà i panni di un ex agente dell'FBI e veterano di guerra, ora impegnato nel valutare la sicurezza dei grattacieli (skyscraper).

Il suo lavoro lo porterà in Cina, dove durante l'ispezione del più alto e tecnologicamente avanzato edificio al mondo, un attacco terroristico lo ridurrà parzialmente in fiamme intrappolando anche la sua famiglia.

La pellicola si ispira ai celebri "Die Hard - Trappola di cristallo" del 1988 e "Inferno di cristallo" del 1974.
